Man Utd will outbid Arsenal for Viktor Gyokeres in a "very close" "supersonic" transaction.

Given the amount that Ruben Amorim's team is willing to spend, Manchester United may unexpectedly win the race for Viktor Gyokeres after his sale to Arsenal halted.

Gyokeres has stated that he will never again play for Sporting CP because he believes the team has reneged on an agreement that would have allowed him to depart this summer for €70 million (£61 million or $81 million).

Gyokeres and his agent are reportedly incensed at Sporting's purported move.

After scoring an astonishing 97 goals in 102 games over his two years in Portugal, the Swedish striker has been linked to other major clubs.

Several elite teams have reportedly expressed interest in him, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Gyokeres just signed a five-year contract with Arsenal after the team chose to pursue him over Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.

In addition, the Gunners have agreed to pay Sporting €63.5 million plus €10 million for Gyokeres, for a total package value of £64 million or $85.5 million.

Gyokeres and his agency waived additional payments in order to facilitate that latter agreement because they are anxious for the transfer to be finalised.

However, it was revealed earlier on Sunday that Sporting was supposedly requesting additional money from Arsenal, which caused another delay in the deal.

Gyokeres has been compelled to involve his lawyers as a result of this. United has stormed back into the race for Gyokeres, according to the Portuguese publication A Bola, and they hope to surprise Arsenal by catching him first.

In a "supersonic" turn of events, United has resumed negotiations with Gyokeres and Sporting, with head coach Amorim leading the charge.

Amorim has told his former team that United is prepared to make a higher offer than Arsenal for Gyokeres, with a €80 million (£69 million or $93 million) transfer being considered.

According to reports, a deal between Sporting and United is "very close" to being finalised.

The 27-year-old is open to moving to United because of his strong bond with Amorim, but he would prefer to join Arsenal because they are in the Champions League.

Gyokeres' potential transfer to Arsenal is "in serious danger of falling through," according to a Bola, which has given United optimism for a last-minute coup.

Man Utd is trying to find alternatives for Hojlund.

After passing over Liam Delap and Hugo Ekitike, United is still looking for a center-forward to take Rasmus Hojlund's place. Ekitike agreed to a six-year contract with Liverpool, while Delap joined Chelsea.

United is keeping an eye on Nicolas Jackson and Ollie Watkins in addition to Gyokeres.

Additionally, Thesportmoment reported on Friday that the Red Devils are getting ready to intensify negotiations for Sesko, who Leipzig has set a price tag of £67.3 million for.

Going back to Gyokeres, additional sources have asserted that if he moves to the Premier League this summer, he only wants to join Arsenal.

On June 25, however, sources told Thesportmoment that Gyokeres had told United that he would be eager to join them in the event that his deal to Arsenal didn't work out.

Arsenal is adamant about preventing that from happening, but there is growing conjecture in Portugal that Mikel Arteta's team may end talks after becoming enraged by Sporting's behaviour.
