Man Utd makes an urgent and "final" offer of £70 million for Mbeumo, which will be "accepted."

The reason behind Manchester United's decision to make their eagerly awaited third attempt to acquire Bryan Mbeumo has been made public, and it represents yet another setback for an unfortunate Premier League competitor.

Mbeumo, 25, stated unequivocally that if he leaves Brentford this summer, he only wants to join Manchester United.

In order to support the striker, the Red Devils want to start Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in the dual No. 10 positions.

United will immediately focus on acquiring a new starting striker if Mbeumo signs.

Man Utd made two aggressive offers for Mbeumo: £55 million (£45 million plus £10 million in add-ons) and £62.5 million (£55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons).

Initially, Brentford used Cunha's £62.5 million deal as a benchmark and anticipated to make £62.5 million from Mbeumo's sale.

But the Bees soon learnt they were undervaluing Mbeumo, who finished the season with 20 league goals, more than just Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Alexander Isak combined.

As a result, Brentford increased their asking price to an estimated £70 million and informed United that they preferred a larger upfront payment rather than one that was made up of add-ons.

It took three weeks for United to make a third forceful bid. Fortunately for Manchester United supporters, Newcastle has contributed to the anticipated third bid.

The Magpies lost out on Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool and swiftly switched to Yoane Wissa after losing out on Joao Pedro to Chelsea. This summer, Brentford is willing to sell one of Wissa and Mbeumo, but not both.

In order to neutralise Newcastle's threat, Manchester United swiftly bid £70 million (£65 million plus £5 million in add-ons) for Mbeumo.

David Ornstein broke the news of that proposal being tabled, and Ben Jacobs and Fabrizio Romano promptly confirmed it.

Brentford was still debating whether to approve or disapprove the project at the time this article was published.

However, based on the most recent information from the Evening Standard, Brentford is expected to accept Manchester United's £70 million offer for Mbeumo.

In the event that it is approved, Newcastle will probably lose out on another chance to sign Wissa.

Romano posted on X: "Manchester United is still confident about the Bryan Mbeumo deal after improving their bid. According to David Ornstein, the proposal has been raised to a £70 million package with add-ons.

Conversations with Brentford are still ongoing. As previously disclosed, Brentford is still working on Omari Hutchinson as a substitute.

Another explanation for Man Utd's actions

"Man Utd wants Mbeumo to be part of the pre-season tour of the USA from the get-go," Jacobs said, revealing a second reason why the team has decided that this is the moment to act.

On Saturday, United will play Leeds United in a friendly match in Sweden.

After that, they will head to America early next week, where they will play their first of three games on Saturday, July 26. "Man Utd is optimistic," Jacobs said on X.

United is aiming to secure Mbeumo by Tuesday so he can travel to the USA, despite rumours that the transaction had stopped. Clubs are moving for Yoane Wissa today, so there is more urgency.

According to a follow-up from Jacobs, Man Utd considers their most recent offer to be their "final" one.

Manchester United views their third bid for Bryan Mbeumo as 'final,'" he continued.

Not expecting to go much above their most recent appraisal, but ready to negotiate if it isn't accepted outright. Additionally, Bryan Mbeumo has reiterated his desire to depart.
