Man Utd AGREE: Ornstein unveils the unexpected formula while Marcus Rashford deals with Barcelona

David Ornstein disclosed that Manchester United accepted the terms of Barcelona's offer for Marcus Rashford, bringing the striker one step closer to his ideal transfer. 

Thesportmoment confirmed as soon as Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan in February that his preferred light at the end of the tunnel would be a move to Barcelona, a fantasy he has had for almost the whole year. 

Rashford and his agents have been able to concentrate their efforts on landing his ideal transfer since Villa decided not to exercise their option to purchase him for £40 million.

Rashford is a versatile player that Barcelona's head coach Hansi Flick wants to have on his team.

The defending La Liga champions have now taken proactive measures to make the matchup a reality. 

Through middlemen, Barcelona has made an offer for Rashford, who has since spoken with Flick, according to Ornstein's report for The Athletic. 

Barcelona's offer is a loan with a buyout option, although Manchester United has been citing the predetermined £40 million valuation for Rashford.

Ornstein has stated that United has approved the plan, which may come as a surprise considering their need to earn money for their own transfers and their wish to remove Rashford from the books. 

Although negotiations are reportedly nearing their conclusion, some fine-tuning will still be necessary before an agreement is finalised.

In this type of agreement, the clubs will need to decide whether a loan fee will be charged (and how much it would cost), what the purchase option will be, whether it will become a binding contract, and who will be responsible for paying what percentage of Rashford's salary during his loan period.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona has already gotten in "direct" contact with Manchester United for Rashford, who has already agreed to the transfer. 

After Barcelona had an internal meeting and opted to go with Rashford instead of Liverpool's Luis Diaz, who was thought to be too pricey, the club-to-club proposal was made in the morning.

Since top target Nico Williams decided to sign a long-term contract renewal with Athletic Club, Barcelona has already lost out on another left winger this summer.

Without getting too caught up in the chase, Flick has been outspoken about his desire for a new left winger and acknowledged how much he admires Rashford (and Diaz). 

However, the Barcelona manager might soon be able to refer to the England international as his own player if the last few obstacles are removed.

Rashford to Barcelona: A tale that has been developing for six months

The moment of sport On February 4, Fraser Fletcher stated that Rashford was still interested in moving overseas and hoped to utilise his loan from Aston Villa as a "stepping stone.

In January, Barcelona expressed interest in Rashford and was among the few European teams to negotiate with his brother-agent Dwaine Maynard; nevertheless, their financial predicament made a move challenging.

To a certain extent, Rashford was able to use his time at Villa to put himself in the shop window.

His agents were "already putting in the work to try and secure his ideal summer move," according to sources prior to his Villa debut.

All of that appears to be coming to pass, as Rashford's ambition to become Barcelona's first English player since Gary Lineker is almost certain to come true.

More recently, Barcelona and Maynard have been in discussions, and the important club-to-club communication that followed set up what would be Rashford's eye-catching next transfer.

How Barcelona will use Marcus Rashford

Moving to La Liga when Rashford departs the Premier League could be the greatest option, and Barcelona would be a prestigious destination. 

Raphinha, who played on the left last season and scored two goals from that position in the January 12 Supercopa De Espana final, is already a highly effective left-winger in their present squad. 

Raphinha, meanwhile, isn't so committed to a single role. 

At other times, the Brazil international has played in attacking midfield or on the right wing.

Rashford may occasionally be used in his preferred position as a backup rotation option because Ansu Fati, the left-wing deputy from the previous season, is thought to be a fading talent and was sent on loan to Monaco. 

However, Barcelona has insisted on not impeding the teen's growth in particular, so Lamine Yamal or Ferran Torres would probably have to leave if Raphinha played on the right to make room for Rashford. 

Meanwhile, Rashford would have to replace Robert Lewandowski if he wanted to play as a striker. 

He would be a major barrier to starting possibilities because, predictably, his goals-to-games ratio is still extraordinary.

Although he essentially played in November's La Liga schedule, the 36-year-old Poland striker is not able to play 90 minutes every week. 

Barcelona will probably be weighing their alternatives for Lewandowski's long-term replacement, but would they give Rashford the chance?

They think they have a spot in their team for Rashford, at least for the near future.

His propensity for playing on the left wing may have limited his versatility at Old Trafford, but it may also be what makes him a valuable member of Barcelona's squad.
