Liverpool is preparing to make a record-breaking offer for Alexander Isak, while a writer shares what Newcastle teammates are considering.

Liverpool are preparing to make one of the boldest transfer moves of the summer by launching a record-breaking offer to sign Newcastle United’s star striker Alexander Isak.

The Swedish international is now firmly on the Reds’ radar, and all signs are pointing toward a potential blockbuster deal that could shake the Premier League.

Isak, who arrived at Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for a club-record fee of £63 million, has quickly risen to become one of the most lethal forwards in Europe.

In just 109 appearances for the Magpies, the 25-year-old has netted 62 goals, showcasing pace, flair, composure, and the kind of goal-scoring instinct that has drawn comparisons to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Frustration Behind the Scenes at Newcastle

Despite his remarkable form, it appears that Isak is growing restless at St. James’ Park. Multiple trusted insiders, including Thesportmoment’s Fraser Fletcher and others like Fabrizio Romano, Ben Jacobs, and Craig Hope, have all confirmed that Isak is exploring his options away from Newcastle.

The primary reason? A growing sense of frustration. Isak reportedly feels that Newcastle’s lack of ambitious signings this summer shows a lack of intent.

He wants to be at a club that’s challenging for major trophies – not just qualifying for Europe, but actually winning it. With Newcastle unable to match his lofty ambitions, he’s started to look elsewhere.

Though Isak recently underwent a precautionary scan for a minor thigh issue, he did not join the club’s pre-season tour. Sources suggest that decision was influenced more by his desire to resolve his future than any serious injury concern.

Liverpool Lead the Race – But at a Price

While Chelsea, Manchester United, and Saudi side Al-Hilal have all shown interest, Liverpool have emerged as frontrunners.

Isak sees Anfield as the perfect platform to realise his ambition of winning the Premier League and Champions League titles.

And Liverpool appear just as interested. Craig Hope, who is closely following the story from Singapore, has gone as far as suggesting Liverpool are preparing a British record transfer offer for the striker – one that could eclipse the £116 million they recently spent on Florian Wirtz.

“My understanding is that Liverpool are readying an offer that would smash their previous record,” Hope said.

“Isak is fully aware of this. He’s back home on Tyneside recovering, but make no mistake – things are moving.”

Liverpool are not short of options to fund the deal. They could raise money by selling players like Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and even Harvey Elliott.

There’s also talk of a reshuffle in the forward line, with the Reds considering a front-two pairing of Isak and Hugo Ekitike, who joined earlier this summer in a £79 million deal.

Newcastle Reluctant – But Realistic

Understandably, Newcastle are desperate to keep hold of their star man. Isak is a central figure in Eddie Howe’s long-term plans, and losing him would be a massive blow.

However, with contract talks stalled and Isak refusing to extend his deal, Newcastle’s leadership knows they may soon be left with little choice.

Insiders say the club would only consider selling if a “massive” offer arrives – something in the region of £150 million

That kind of fee would not only break the British transfer record, it could also give Newcastle the financial freedom they need to reinvest in the squad while staying compliant with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Sesko on Standby as Potential Replacement

If Isak does depart, Newcastle already have a top target in mind: RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. The 22-year-old Slovenian forward is viewed as a future star and could be a great fit for Howe’s high-pressing system.

However, sources close to the situation have warned that a move for Sesko won’t be straightforward.

Leipzig are demanding between £65–70 million, and Newcastle would need to balance the books carefully to afford the deal.

Manchester United are also chasing Sesko as they look to find a long-term No. 9 to replace Rasmus Hojlund.

So if Newcastle want the Leipzig striker, they may need to act fast and decisively.

Isak’s Teammates Expect a Transfer

Adding further intrigue, some of Isak’s teammates reportedly believe the move to Liverpool is going to happen.

While Newcastle publicly maintain that they want to keep the player, there’s a growing sense within the dressing room that the Swede is on his way out.

It’s never easy to let go of your best player,” one source said.

“But there’s a feeling that this might just be the right time for everyone involved.”

A Defining Moment for Liverpool and Newcastle

If Liverpool do pull this off, it would mark one of the most aggressive transfer windows in their recent history.

Having already signed Wirtz, Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, adding Isak would underline the club’s determination to get back to the very top under new head coach Arne Slot.

For Newcastle, this could be a defining crossroads.

Keeping Isak could show ambition, but selling him might unlock opportunities to reshape and balance their squad while easing PSR pressures.

One thing is certain: the next few weeks are going to be massive – not just for Isak and Liverpool, but for Newcastle United’s long-term future.
