Chelsea is moving quickly to sign Xavi Simons, and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that they are in double advanced talks.

Chelsea’s summer transfer window is heating up, and the name on everyone’s lips right now is Xavi Simons.

According to trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are making major strides in their bid to land the talented attacking midfielder from RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old Dutch international has attracted attention from several top Premier League clubs, but Chelsea appear to be leading the race, with negotiations now entering a critical phase.

Chelsea Push Ahead as Simons Eyes Premier League Move

Xavi Simons has long been tipped as one of the most exciting young playmakers in Europe.

After a standout loan spell at PSV Eindhoven and an impressive season at RB Leipzig, the Dutchman is now ready to explore new opportunities — and the Premier League is calling.

Sources say Simons is open to leaving Germany this summer. Once that became clear, Chelsea wasted no time.

The West London club was the first to act decisively, reportedly contacting Simons’ representatives in early June.

Reports from Thesportmoment confirmed that Chelsea had already reached out to Simons’ camp and were preparing to open official talks with Leipzig.

Fabrizio Romano: "Talks Are Going in the Right Direction"

According to the latest update from Fabrizio Romano, the deal is progressing rapidly. Speaking on both his X account and YouTube channel, Romano stated:

“Chelsea and Leipzig are now in advanced talks for Xavi Simons.

Discussions are moving in the right direction, and there is good understanding between the clubs.

This is not the first time Chelsea and Leipzig have sat at the negotiation table.

The two clubs have a strong working relationship, especially after successfully completing the transfer of Christopher Nkunku last year.

Romano added that Chelsea and Leipzig are holding talks on two fronts: one for Simons and another concerning Carney Chukwuemeka, who Leipzig have shown interest in as a possible incoming player.

Personal Terms "Almost Agreed" Between Simons and Chelsea

It’s not just the club-to-club talks that are going well. Chelsea and Simons have also had positive discussions on personal terms.

Romano believes that the player’s move to Stamford Bridge is now looking more likely than ever, saying:

“I still think Xavi Simons has a very good chance of joining Chelsea during this summer transfer window. They can agree on all personal terms very soon.”

This could be a massive coup for Chelsea, who are looking to rebuild their squad under manager Enzo Maresca, bringing in technical, energetic, and versatile players like Simons.

What Will It Cost Chelsea to Land Simons?

Chelsea’s pursuit of Xavi Simons won't come cheap.

According to Philipp Hinze of Sky Sports Deutschland, RB Leipzig are demanding a total package of €70 million — including performance-based add-ons.

That figure translates to around £61.2 million, which would make Simons Chelsea’s most expensive signing of the current transfer window.

Given Chelsea’s already hefty summer spending, fans may question whether the deal is financially prudent.

However, the club seems convinced of Simons’ potential, and they’re prepared to invest heavily in a player they believe can become a future superstar.

Why Chelsea Want Xavi Simons

Simons is not your average midfielder. At just 21, he already boasts:

Elite ball control

Incredible vision and creativity

A knack for scoring and assisting under pressure

Tactical flexibility—he can operate as a No. 10, a winger, or even a false nine

His playing style fits perfectly with Maresca’s vision of high-intensity, possession-based football.

With Chelsea aiming to return to the Premier League’s top four, the addition of Simons could add the missing spark in their attack.

When Could the Deal Be Finalised?

Despite the advanced progress, Chelsea have yet to submit an official bid to Leipzig.

However, all indications suggest that an offer is coming very soon, likely within days.

Leipzig are preparing for the player’s departure, though Simons is still training with the squad and was even named in the lineup for a recent preseason friendly against Toulouse.

This suggests that while the deal is close, it's not done yet — and there’s still a small window for other clubs to make a late move.

 What Happens Next?

Chelsea now face a simple challenge: make the bid and get it over the line. With personal terms nearly agreed and Leipzig open to selling, all that’s left is formalising the agreement.

If successful, this will mark one of the most exciting moves of the summer — and a huge statement from Chelsea as they look

to rebuild their identity and return to Europe’s elite.
