£60 million striker prepared to respond to Manchester United's SOS cry as Ruben Amorim intervenes

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins' position on a possible summer transfer to Old Trafford has been revealed in a report, and a former Old Trafford star offers his opinion on why manager Ruben Amorim should acquire the Englishman, giving Manchester United a significant boost in their pursuit of the player.

Amorim is adamant on acquiring a new striker this summer, even though Manchester United has already acquired Matheus Cunha from Wolves and is in active negotiations with Brentford regarding Bryan Mbeumo.

The manager of Manchester United understood last season that neither Joshua Zirkzee nor Rasmus Hojlund are talented or productive enough to return the team to its Premier League glory days.

All summer long, Manchester United has been aggressively seeking a striker, and two of their top targets are Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap.

Despite working with Amorim at Sporting CP, Gyokeres is headed to Arsenal, while Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town.

According to The Sun, Manchester United has previously rejected the opportunity to sign Jhon Duran, and despite the Red Devils' desire, Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is in support of moving to AC Milan.

According to GiveMeSport, Villa star Watkins is prepared to transfer to Old Trafford, as Manchester United is in dire need of a new striker and is having trouble finding one.

The report's title claims that Watkins is "excited to join Man Utd this summer." Watkins "would be open to joining Manchester United this summer if they made an offer for him," according to the story itself.

According to reports, Man Utd and Villa have discussed Watkins, who is now "a target for INEOS and Amorim.

The following is GiveMeSport's report regarding Watkins's position on a move to Manchester United.

Earlier this month, journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that the Red Devils had already had discussions with the Villa striker's camp

Villa wants more than £50 million for Watkins, according to GiveMeSport, although two other sources—including The Mirror—have stated that the precise sum is £60 million.

On July 9, journalist Dan Bardell of TalkSPORT stated: "I believe that every player has a cost given the nature of football and the situation for Villa with the PSR and the SCR.

I believe Ollie Watkins would likely be targeted if someone came in with about £60 million.

Villa isn't actively trying to sell anyone, but they would undoubtedly take it into account and evaluate the transaction on its merits. They are unwilling to part with their key players.

Ollie Watkins is favoured to succeed for Manchester United.

A former Old Trafford player has already endorsed Watkins to be a star under Amorim, however it is still unclear if Man Utd would make a bid for the striker this summer.

Paul Parker responded, "I'd have to say yes," when asked earlier this month if Watkins would make a solid addition to Manchester United.

He is a workaholic and honest, and I think it's odd that guys at Aston Villa are playing in front of him.

Ollie Watkins is someone who is willing to run the line, who will try to turn bad into good, and who can score goals. People will talk about his age, but I like him.

A blind man would have performed better; he is also very strong in the air and can lead the line, which is a huge plus for Man Utd because they never had that last season.

Watkins is also a favourite of Dwight Yorke, a former striker for Villa and Manchester United.

In September 2024, Yorke said to FourFourTwo: "I recognise a lot of myself in Ollie Watkins. Like me in my younger days, he is a creator, a dribbler, and a finisher.

He has a little bit of everything, as evidenced by his impressive goal and assist totals from the previous season. He has a commendable work ethic as well.

He is a very good player. "Unless you're a great football player, you don't reach that level, score that many goals, and contribute creatively.

Although it took him some time to get to those heights, he is now well-established.

He's one of those guys you can pick week after week since he constantly performs at a high level and has proven himself to be reliable. The best players act in this manner.

Latest Man Utd news: £33 million bid ready, Chelsea swap deal

The summer transfer window is expected to see a £100 million swap between Manchester United and Chelsea, which would be advantageous to all sides.

According to a rumour, Manchester United will suffer a significant setback in their attempt to let go of an attacking player who is not part of Amorim's plans for the upcoming campaign.

A world-class footballer who wants to go to Old Trafford is willing to pay Manchester United £33 million, but his club wants £7 million more.
