Double Liverpool's departure is imminent with a medical TODAY and a champions transfer approved.
Major new arrivals have recently dominated the headlines around Anfield. Beneath the surface, though, is Liverpool's sledgehammering of the Premier League winning team.
In actuality, Liverpool did not want to let their homegrown superstar go when Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid.
In other news, Jarell Quansah is close to joining Bayer Leverkusen for £35 million, and Caoimhin Kelleher was sold to Brentford.
Liverpool was able to include a buyback clause in Quansah's contract.
The forgotten centre-back Nat Phillips will be the first of two Reds players to go.
Because he helped Liverpool qualify for the Champions League in the 2020–21 season, the 28-year-old will always be loved.
Phillips, along with Ozan Kabak and Rhys Williams, helped steady the ship and secure a third-place finish on the last day, while defensive injuries at the time plagued Liverpool.
However, having spent the majority of the following years out on loan, Phillips has hardly appeared since his firefighting operation.
He only has one year left on his Anfield deal, and according to The Telegraph and Athletic, he will permanently join West Brom in the Championship.
In contrast with Darwin Nunez, who has approved a move to Napoli, Phillips will only bring Liverpool a little transfer money.
Darwin Nunez to Napoli as soon as possible
Nunez's three-year adventure with Liverpool is about to end. Since joining from Benfica in a then-club record transfer costing £85 million (add-ons included), the Uruguayan has not improved.
Nunez is still as annoying and unreliable as ever, but Antonio Conte, the manager of Napoli, thinks he can polish the rough diamond.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano announced on X that Conte had been successful in persuading Nunez to join Napoli.
Now that the striker has given his consent, focus will shift to making a bid to Liverpool and settling on personal terms with the player.
After being seen Conte's plans, "Understand Darwin Nunez has given his initial green light to Napoli, open to the move," Romano stated.
As Liverpool wants a significant transfer fee and salary will also be a key topic, the deal now depends on financial feasibility.
In January, Liverpool turned down a £70 million offer for Nunez from Al-Nassr, a Saudi Arabian team.
Although it appears unlikely that the Serie A champions will agree to pay anything near that astronomical amount, that price point will be used as a baseline in negotiations with Napoli.
Atletico Madrid's Andy Robertson and Brighton's Harvey Elliott are two more Liverpool players who are now being strongly linked to leaving.
