Man City and a £76 million star who "dreams" of working with Pep Guardiola have "agreed personal terms."
Although they are at odds with AC Milan over Tijjani Reijnders' transfer worth, Manchester City has reportedly advanced their efforts to sign the player by reaching a personal "agreement" with him.
Reijnders is Man City's top target for the midfield No. 8 position.
This summer, Pep Guardiola's team will undergo a significant roster overhaul, with the midfield being one of the main areas that will be strengthened.
City wants to sign Reijnders to give their engine room more quality and vitality because Bernardo Silva may be moving on and Ilkay Gundogan appears to be past his prime.
In an attempt to beat out Chelsea, Barcelona, and Real Madrid for the 26-year-old's services, City has initiated talks with Reijnders' team as well as Milan.
Sacha Tavolieri, a journalist for Sky Sport Switzerland, has given an update on the situation.
He asserts that Reijnders' agency and City's new football director, Hugo Viana, had made a temporary "agreement on personal terms."
The player "dreams" of playing and getting better under Guardiola, which is why he is "enthusiastic" about joining City.
Because he is a "great admirer" of Guardiola's illustrious tenure at Barcelona and believes the 54-year-old coach can help him develop into a world-class midfielder, Reijnders is "prioritising" a move to the Etihad over any other suitors.
Although Milan has authorised City to begin talks about a potential transfer, the two teams have not yet reached a monetary agreement.
Thesportmoment was informed on Saturday by sources that City had verbally offered €60 million (£50.5 million or $68 million) for the Netherlands star.
However, that offer was turned down, and Viana intends to come back with a better offer of €70 million (£59 million or $79 million).
We are aware that Milan is steadfast and that before allowing Reijnders to depart Italy, City must approach their enormous €90 million (£76 million or $101 million) asking price.
The city is expected to invest more heavily.
Since City is keen to pair Reijnders and Rodri in midfield for the upcoming campaign, negotiations will carry on in the upcoming weeks.
On March 31, Thesportmoment reported that City had enquired about the Serie A star's availability in order to show their interest in him.
Theo Hernandez, a French left-back, is another Milan player City is reportedly considering acquiring.
Nico Gonzalez, a backup for Rodri in the defensive midfield position, was acquired by the FA Cup finalists from Porto for £50 million in January.
In addition to aiming for Reijnders next, they also require a No. 10 from legendary Kevin De Bruyne in order to succeed.
Their first target is Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen, and their backup is Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White.
