Andrea Berta, the manager of Arsenal, is in "direct contact" about signing a striker as the Gunners reduce their shortlist to two.

In addition to another well-known striker on their radar, Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta is in "direct contact" with RB Leipzig as the Gunners contemplate signing Benjamin Sesko.

This summer, Arsenal is focused on acquiring a top-tier striker who can lead the scoring charts and propel the team to the Premier League championship, and their pursuit is well under way.

According to reports, new transfer head Berta has decided that his two main targets are Sporting CP goal machine Viktor Gyokeres and 21-year-old star Sesko. 

As Arsenal considers a proposal for Sesko, Berta has met with officials of RB Leipzig, according to trustworthy journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Both transactions would be very costly. Sesko must be sold by RB in order to make money. The owner and Mikel Arteta are huge admirers of the player.

Arsenal had to decide between Gyokeres and Sesko.

Sesko's representation were contacted directly by Arsenal to determine whether the player would be interested in moving to the Emirates, according to a report published on April 12 by Rudy Galetti, the Sportmoment transfer correspondent.

The Slovenian international, who has scored 21 goals this season, is open to joining the Gunners as club-to-club negotiations with Leipzig are now underway. 

With a current deal with RB Leipzig that runs through 2029, Sesko has a €80 million (£67 million) release clause. 

Arsenal is seriously considering investing in a young striker with great potential, and Sesko definitely fits their idea," according to Galetti's report. 

In any event, the English club is prepared to match his fee if the negotiations go well and takes into account the player's "real" worth.

It's no secret that Arsenal is interested in Gyokeres. With an amazing 96 goals in 101 appearances for Sporting, the former Coventry City player has caught the attention of several elite teams. 

On May 20, Fraser Fletcher, a sports transfer insider, revealed that Arsenal had made further moves to acquire the striker.
