Against Arne Slot's wishes, Liverpool "considers" selling a key player for £68 million.

Although the club will "consider" a deal if their €80 million or £68 million valuation is satisfied and one team is prepared to do so, Arne Slot "would rather not sell" a player who has just had the best season of his Liverpool career to date.

Arne Slot will get his first opportunity to reshape Liverpool's team in his image during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

Caoimhin Kelleher's sale will be prompted by Giorgi Mamardashvili's arrival from Valencia, but that's only the beginning.
Along with reinforcements at centre-back, left-back, and striker, a new right-back to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold is also being sought.

Depending on the future of Luis Diaz, who is still oddly underpaid at Anfield, a new left winger might also arrive. Even though he is still on the conditions he agreed to when he joined from FC Porto three and a half years ago, the Colombian currently makes only £55,000 a week.

Diaz and his team are hoping for a new and better deal, and the winger's impressive performances this season have greatly benefited their negotiating position. In fact, Diaz has contributed 16 goals and 8 assists in all competitions.

Since Diaz relocated to Merseyside, both of those numbers represent single-season highs. Saudi Arabia is genuinely interested in Diaz, though, and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has acknowledged that there is a good chance Diaz may go this summer.

Reds manager Slot is adamantly opposed to the possible transfer of Diaz, per a recent update from Caught Offside.

However, if a price of €80 million or £68 million is put forward, the club may defy their boss and "consider a sale.
Liverpool would make a big profit on the £50 million (add-ons included) they paid to sign Diaz in 2022 if they received a bid of similar magnitude.

Al-Hilal, a Saudi team that is also in the running to sign Darwin Nunez, is reportedly willing to "pay big" to acquire Diaz. Contract negotiations for Luis Diaz are planned. In April, TBR Football revealed that Diaz would love to STAY at Anfield.

However, as previously stated, staying with Liverpool depends on agreeing to a new contract with significantly better conditions.

In 2027, Diaz's current contract expires. According to a recent report by Sky Sports News, negotiations to finalise a contract extension have been scheduled for the end of the current campaign.

Let's just bring you some breaking news from Liverpool," their correspondent stated on May 2. Luis Diaz was the driving force behind the comeback [against Spurs] on Sunday, and Liverpool will discuss extending his contract with the team at the end of this season.

With Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all in the last year of their contracts, this season has been dominated by discussions about Liverpool contracts.

Salah and the captain have both inked new contracts, and it appears that Liverpool will try to prolong Luis Diaz's tenure at the club after he joined from Porto in January 2022 and had a fantastic season at Anfield."

If Al-Hilal does come in with a sizable proposal, the outcome of those negotiations will have a significant impact on whether Liverpool reluctantly decides to cash in.
